Video call with Father Christmas
Picture your child’s face when Father Christmas appears on the screen, smiles and says hello. A video call with Father Christmas looks just like a video call with Grandma – except it’s Father Christmas on the other end, chatting live from the North Pole. Your child sees him; he hears your child.

How the video call works
Tap ‘Video call’ and Father Christmas appears on screen, while your child sees their own picture in the corner, just like any normal video call. He talks live: he answers questions, tells jokes and asks your child all about their Christmas plans.
Your camera picture is shown only on your own screen, like a mirror, and is never sent anywhere – so Father Christmas hears your child but never sees them. You only need a browser, a microphone and a camera – no app, no account – just your email. A parent gives consent before the first call, and it works on most modern phones, tablets and laptops.
Live, not a personalised clip
Lots of ‘personalised Father Christmas videos’ are pre-filmed clips with a child’s name added in. This is something else: a real conversation in which Father Christmas hears your child and replies there and then. Ask him how the elves are getting on, or whether he prefers mince pies or chocolate biscuits, and he’ll answer that very question.
If you’re torn between the two, our guide to a video message versus a live call explains the difference. In short: a clip is watched, while a call is something your child takes part in – they can ask questions, tell him about a wobbly tooth and hear Father Christmas react straight away.
When to make the call
A video call is a lovely way to mark the start of December, the day the tree goes up or the evening school breaks up for the holidays. On Christmas Eve, when excitement is at its peak, a few minutes with Father Christmas on screen can help an over-excited child settle down for bed – and he can remind them that he only visits once everyone is fast asleep.
Price
A 5-minute video call is £7.99. Try a free 90-second call first, so you can try it before you choose. Prefer just a voice call? That’s £3.99 for 5 minutes. For a longer chat in which Father Christmas already knows your child’s name, pet and achievements, choose the Magic package (10 minutes, £15.99).
Minutes aren’t lost if the connection drops and can be split over several calls. Unused minutes never expire.
