How to call Father Christmas

Open callrealsanta.com on a mobile, tablet or laptop and tap ‘Call’. The line rings for a moment, then Father Christmas answers and asks who’s calling from such a long way away.

There’s no app to download and no account to set up. Your browser simply asks for permission to use the microphone, so that Father Christmas can hear your child. Before the very first call, a parent gives consent – it only takes a second.

Because the call runs in the browser over Wi-Fi or mobile data, it works from anywhere in the UK – the kitchen table, Granny’s sofa or the back of the car on the way to the panto.

A real conversation, not a recorded message

Many ‘Father Christmas hotlines’ play the same pre-recorded message to every child. Ours is different: Father Christmas listens to what your child says and answers them personally. Ask him how Rudolph’s nose is doing, whether the elves have finished the wrapping, or what he thinks of mince pies, and he’ll reply to that very question.

That’s why no two calls are ever the same, and why children may well want to ring back the next evening.

What does a call cost?

Try a free 90-second call first, so you can see your child’s reaction before deciding anything. After that you can choose a voice call (5 minutes) for £3.99, a video call (5 minutes, where Father Christmas appears on screen) for £7.99, or the Magic package (10 minutes) for £15.99.

With the Magic package you fill in a short form beforehand – your child’s name, age, pet, what they’re proud of this year and what they’re wishing for – and Father Christmas brings it up himself, as if the elves had told him.

Minutes aren’t lost if the connection drops, and you can split them over several calls. Unused minutes never expire.

Tips for a magical call

Find a quiet room and hold the phone close to your child. Little ones often feel braver sitting on a grown-up’s lap. It helps to think of one question together beforehand, or to practise a verse of a carol or a line from the nativity play – Father Christmas loves a performance.
